Owlowiscious Girls

I managed to read 36/40 for the regular Popsugar Challenge of 2018 and 4/10 for the advanced section.  It is okay that I didn't finish.  I am happy with what I was able to accomplish this year.  Excited for next year! A book made into a movie you have already seen: "Cheesy, fun, but completely unbiblical." True Crime: "A little hard to follow, but I learned about the old-time circus." The next book in a series you started: "Wonderful, full of the optimism of youthful dreams." A book involving a heist: "It was like watching a funny movie.  It was a hilarious ride." Nordic Noir: "So intense and a lot of coffee drinking!  I was surprised by how much I liked this book even with how disturbing it also was." A novel based on a real person: "Based on the life of King Ahaz and King Hezekiah- I liked it but it might be a little forgettable for me."

This year is wrapping up quite quickly and I still have about 11 books left to read.  By this time last year I was probably freaking out and trying to fill in the prompts with more kid's books, but I have taken on the attitude this year of- "If I finish I finish, if not I am just carrying the books over to the next year."  Last week I didn't update because I was on Women's Retreat with my church.  I had a slim hope of trying to get a little reading in, but it VERY much didn't happen.  BUT the Popsugar 2019 Challenge came out over last weekend.  It took all my will power to wait till the end of the last retreat session NOT to look it over and start making my list for next year.  Since then, though, I have been mildly working on a new list/plan for next year.  I have too much actual reading to do, though, to spend a lot of time on it.  So here goes nothing...and by that I mean I finished no books this week.  I just keep adding to the pile and reading snippets

I have officially gone way off my intended schedule but no matter- I read ever on! For the prompt in the advanced part of the list "a book about a problem facing society" I went soft.  I couldn't narrow it down and technically stuck to the original planned title for the challenge.  Over the weekend I finished Hands Free Mama by Rachel Macy Staffor.  I figured one of the problems facing society is how many moms I see whipping out their phones constantly and not even paying attention to their kids.  I know.  I shouldn't really judge.  Maybe they are all taking pictures or maybe this has been this particular moms first down time in ages, but I know I suffer from checking my status likes and other things even though I am using a computer. This book wasn't super special.  Just a blog turned into a book so it was repetitive.  I could have done with out all the crying.  The author is always on the verge of tears.  I, myself, had a few ranges of emotion while I re
