Lyrics, Libraries, and Pseudonyms

These last two weeks have been a bit random in trying to find time to read and write.  I haven't officially finished any books, but I have been reading plenty in my pockets of spare time through any means necessary- Kindle, audio book, and the regular way.

MOM'S READING

First off I have wanted to participate in a Book Club whether online or in person for years.  Right now I have to just be content with the Facebook group Women's' Bible Cafe for now and I usually have to buy the books because they are not always at the library.  This is also technically the first time really trying to connect and participate.  We are reading Why Her? by Nicki Koziarz and it is also going to count as "a book with song lyrics in the title" because of a song that has no connection to the book whatsoever by Monica.

The Popsguar reading group for April voted to read Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan for the prompt "a book involving a bookstore or library".  I have been looking forward to reading this book since reading Sloan's other book- Sourdough.  Admittedly, I am already having mixed feelings.  I had mixed feelings about Sourdough, too, but the reviews for Mr. Penumbra seemed a little more positive.  The style of these books are tech. savvy and quirky.  Both of these things I feel I can appreciate, but I am not feeling very drawn to or particularly interested in it.  Parts of it actually cause me to feel very dumb, but that is not the author's fault.  Maybe it gets better.

I have also been looking forward to reading The Cuckoo's Calling for the prompt "woman with a male pseudonym".  This book was written by none other than the famous J.K. Rowling author of the awesome Harry Potter series under the name Robert Galbraith.  Now this book has got me totally hooked!  I has not disappointed so far.  I can't wait to see how it ends!  I am starting to think I really like gritty type detective novels more than I use to.

HERMIONE'S READING

Although Hermione has been reading, of course, we haven't been as in sync with the prompts due to my own faulty memory.  She has also been doing a lot of extra and side reading.  It is hard to keep up with her!

Here are a couple of the titles for the prompts we have been working on most recently.

A book about a villain or antihero

A book with song lyrics in the title and the song below

A book that involves a library

a book Hermione picked and won't stop talking about Brian

NEWBERY CHALLENGE

I am rereading Penny from Heaven by Jennifer L. Holm with Hermione basically just because it is also based on a song so sticking with the "lyrics theme" and because I absolutely love this book and I have wanted to reread it for a long time.  I wish it was summer because it is such a summer book, but it is just time to reread it.

Also to celebrate library week I went to the Friends of the Library book sale and I haven't bought so many books in such a long time.  Feel free to mock me because I stocked up on nearly whole Left Behind series and these pictures are only half my haul.
