Lisbeth Salander's Birthday

Image
In my quest to make my reading more productive I have decided for the rest of this year and probably the next I will be picking my own reading themes in this order- Adult, Teen, Middle Grade Child, and Younger Grade Child.  This week was Adult and I decided to honor Lisbeth Salander's birthday on April 30th.  I first read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo back in January 2018 and after getting my new reading planner thought it might be fun to actually continue the series.  This week I finished The Girl Who Played with Fire . As I remembered from the previous book there is a lot of coffee drinking so I played the drinking game and drank coffee every time it was mentioned.  Next time it would fun to do a tally.  Any way, in comparison to the first book this one was a bit tame.  I enjoyed it even though I spoiled it for myself when I was looking up characters to keep them straight.  Since the kids have a 4 day weekend I will not be able to watch ...

Bout of Books

Image
This will be my first time participating in Bout of Books!  It is too long to wait for the next Dewey Readathon in October so here goes nothing. The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, Twitter chats, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.  For all Bout of Books 25 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. I am participating in Bout of Books 25.  This is my first time.  I want to finish at least 5 books.  Monday, May 13, 2019 What I read:   I finished Catching Fire .

April Reads

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon came and went.  I didn't update here because I was updating on Instagram which is new for me since that wasn't really the plan but since I have an actual smart phone now it just kinda happened that way.  I didn't get much reading done any way, but that is fine.  But now I have the next Readathon Date- October 26th and I am going to plan to NOT be teaching Sunday school and maybe find a way to get away...maybe? that might just be a dream for now.  At the very least I can plan to not worry about Sunday school. Any way my reading schedule is OUT OF CONTROL!!!!  It is time to reign it in.  Time to scratch all the "plans" and focus on ONE book at a time.  Okay okay maybe two because...audio books.  I need to get stuff done but I need to read too.  I am torn as to where to focus my reading energy.  I did buy a  Reading Planner to help get me focused and get off the computer and hopefully to inspire me.  ...

Pre-readathon Time!

Image
It was a busy spring break with my sister and nephew here.  I just barely finished one book- of course that is pretty low for me. It was suppose to be the first prereadathon challenge, too, and I already resigned myself to not participating but now with spring break over and back on regular schedule I am able to participate in the pre-readathon challenge #2.  It is a good one too.  Read for 24 hours before the 24 Readathon on April 6th (which I can't fully participate in any way because that is the Ladies Spring Brunch).  Life is just a series of obstacles keeping me from reading!  I am kinda joking, kinda not.  Any way, the way I figure it I need to read at least 3 hours a day till April 6th to get in my 24 hours.  This is how it is going so far- March 30th: Time Read- 1 hour Pages Read- 48 What I Read- Reading to finish the series March 31st: Time Read- 2 hours Pages Read- 154 What I Read- Reading to finish the series ...

March Reading Group Books

Image
I am so scattered in my life right now but I have been trying to keep up with my reading groups.  On Goodreads my Great American Read Group reads 2 books a month- one stand alone and one from a series from the The Great American Read which I have only been working on since it came out last year.  I also try to participate as often as possible in the Popsugar Monthly read.  Here is what March reading looks like: Reading the Dollanganger Series Book #1 Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews (my original post ) The Intuitionist by Colson Whitehead (my original post ) Popsugar Reading for March prompt "a book with a question in the title" Where'd You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple I haven't gotten very far in any of them and with Spring Break right around the corner and my sister coming and my depression I am going to slowly be working my way through these.  I am not sure I will be having much free reading time.
