Library Summer Reading

Image
I love going to the library.  I don't think that was a secret or anything I just needed you to know.  I especially love the summer reading programs for ALL ages.  Since last year I took on that huge project for The Great American Read and did a fair amount of reading (12 books) but didn't put a conscious effort into participating in the library programs.  Oh, sure I put my tickets in every time I read a book but I didn't go to any events and my kids barely read at all.  I would like to change that this year.  I am going to take lots of picture, of course, and see if I can read 20 books by the end of summer.  I am basically going to have to read a book every 2 or 3 days.  The theme this year is A Universe of Stories- I believe it is in honor of the 50 year anniversary of the moon landing.  So there is a lot of planet and space type stuff around our library.  They even put up a summer reading photo type both. I have finished 2 books...

Reading but in the most electic way possible...

We have ONE MORE WEEK OF SCHOOL!  At this point my reading is suffering largely in part of keeping the kids motivated to finish this last week.  Getting to bed and waking up on time has been a real struggle.  I haven't had time to put holds on books and have suddenly taken full advantage of my Kindle and the Library2Go and the app Libby.  I still prefer holding a real book but this will have to do for now.  I have been mostly reading kids books but those totally count.  I haven't kept to any one particular schedule. This is what I have been up to..... I reread and partially listened to The Hunger Games Triology by Suzanne Collins.  I loosely put it in my challenge prompts "a book with an item of clothing or accessory on the cover" because of the Mockingjay Pin and someone said I could put Catching Fire as a "cli-fi book" so I did.  Whether it counts or not would be up for debate but that is where it is going because I am too far behind. ...

Lisbeth Salander's Birthday

Image
In my quest to make my reading more productive I have decided for the rest of this year and probably the next I will be picking my own reading themes in this order- Adult, Teen, Middle Grade Child, and Younger Grade Child.  This week was Adult and I decided to honor Lisbeth Salander's birthday on April 30th.  I first read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo back in January 2018 and after getting my new reading planner thought it might be fun to actually continue the series.  This week I finished The Girl Who Played with Fire . As I remembered from the previous book there is a lot of coffee drinking so I played the drinking game and drank coffee every time it was mentioned.  Next time it would fun to do a tally.  Any way, in comparison to the first book this one was a bit tame.  I enjoyed it even though I spoiled it for myself when I was looking up characters to keep them straight.  Since the kids have a 4 day weekend I will not be able to watch ...

Bout of Books

This will be my first time participating in Bout of Books!  It is too long to wait for the next Dewey Readathon in October so here goes nothing. The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, Twitter chats, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.  For all Bout of Books 25 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. I am participating in Bout of Books 25.  This is my first time.  I want to finish at least 5 books.  Monday, May 13, 2019 What I read:   I finished Catching Fire .

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon came and went.  I didn't update here because I was updating on Instagram which is new for me since that wasn't really the plan but since I have an actual smart phone now it just kinda happened that way.  I didn't get much reading done any way, but that is fine.  But now I have the next Readathon Date- October 26th and I am going to plan to NOT be teaching Sunday school and maybe find a way to get away...maybe? that might just be a dream for now.  At the very least I can plan to not worry about Sunday school. Any way my reading schedule is OUT OF CONTROL!!!!  It is time to reign it in.  Time to scratch all the "plans" and focus on ONE book at a time.  Okay okay maybe two because...audio books.  I need to get stuff done but I need to read too.  I am torn as to where to focus my reading energy.  I did buy a  Reading Planner to help get me focused and get off the computer and hopefully to inspire me.  ...
